Over the Hill, Let's Keep Climbing. Why is Exercise so Important for Adults? Exercise can reduce the incidence of disease, while also preventing or delaying diabetes and heart disease.
Exercise is important for everyone, especially oder adults. While helping to maintain mobility and stamina, exercise can reduce the incidence of disease, while also preventing or delaying diabetes and heart disease. Balance, flexibility, strength, and endurance all come from exercise. They all play a role in preventing falls. It's never too late to start exercising.

Benefits of exercise also include:

  • Reducing Arthritis Pain
  • Reducing Anxiety and Depression
  • Helping People Stay Independent
  • Maintaining Healthy Blood Vessels
  • Helping to Manage Weight
  • Helping to Cope with Stress
  • Reducing Stroke Risk
  • Reducing Colon and Breast Cancers
  • Reducing the Number of Falls

Try organized activities. You can find these at senior centers, health clubs, or even at a church, temple, or mosque. This approach may work best if you've never exercised in the past or if you need company to get motivated. But you can exercise on your own if you prefer. Try an exercise video or walk in the park.
